»The air down here« is a booklet, which explores the question of how everyday things are experienced by people of significantly below average height. The charcoal drawings show brief snapshots of the familiar from an unusual perspective. Despite the humorous touch that is evident in the drawings, it is to make the viewer think about a serious problem: How does it feel to be small in a society where most things are designed for the average consumer? Drawings and texts wich are based on my personal experience and observation complement one another, to form an overall impression to provide the viewer the possibility of identification.
