An SCSR unit is a device used in the mining industry in case of emergencies. They are bulky units that provide oxygen in a closed breathing cycle, allowing personnel to get themselves to safety.
The goal of this project was to design a unit with the mine worker in mind that is more comfortable to carry around, easier to donne and less likely to injure the users and damage surrounding equipment.
The result is a unit with an operational time of twenty minutes and a reduced size and weight. It’s position can be adjusted to be worn around the waist or chest, depending on the tasks the user performs, as well as simplifying the donning procedure.
