Bookend Reader

Bookend is a web-based reading environment that questions whether the Internet can be used to enhance the reading experience. Aimed at younger, easily distracted users, the prototype takes classic literature examples and transforms them using sentence fragments and changing backgrounds. Using the mouse or arrow keys, a user navigates through each story, sentence by sentence, as surrounding colors alter to match the story's content. These features create a simplified reading environment that is flexible to the narratives' tonal shifts and more memorable than traditional print formats. The full project can be found at www.bookendreader.com.
