Solar Without Borders is active since 2008 and is focused on leasing led-lights to the rural communities of Togo. The project currently uses calabashes: hollowed out, local fruits as housing for the LED-lights. The project wants to go international therefore they need a new lamp housing which has to be sturdy, low priced, user-friendly, ecological and a feeling of “third world country-help” by the user-group should be avoided.
The new lamp can use components from the calabash as well as the new, more efficient components. Rinoo can be used as a flashlight, reading-light, hanglamp, etc. through strategically placed surfaces
