Concrete is the most widely used man-made building material today. Its benefits include strength, versatility, and high thermal mass. Thermal mass, the ability of a material to store heat, is useful in passively regulating temperature; the material can absorb heat during warm hours and release when conditions become cold.
Chromocrete is is thermochromic concrete made possible by innovations in concrete mix design. Dependent on temperature, Chromocrete changes its color saturation to better perform as a thermal regulator. It turns dark in cold conditions and light in warm ones, thereby adjusting itself to absorb or reflect solar radiation.
