iF PUBLIC VALUE STUDENT AWARD 2016

Start Up! is an app that helps refugees and relieves authorities at the same time. The app provides basic information in the respective national language and guides refugees on the basis of an interactive map that shows the most important places and facilities such as authorities, doctors, and public transport timetables. There is a corresponding vocabulary list for each place. Additionally, country-specific information is provided, so the user can learn basic things, such as bus travel or waste separation. To complete the concept, Start Up! offers the possibility to find a job based on the requirements of the work permit.

The app is user-oriented to meet some of the immediate needs of a refugee. Organizational and geographical information that communicates social knowledge has been intelligently combined in a unique way. It is a perfect start-up aid for anyone in a foreign culture and supports the user with pertinent legal regulations. The Quick Guide can be used to bundle user-defined information or save the results found on job markets.
