The stark monochrome cover of Staatstheater Mainz' season program 2015 / 2016 toys with the theatre’s star logo, while the inside pages feature painting-like color portraits of ensemble members playing with their own personal photographs used as props. Flanked by clear graphics – large lettering, bold symbols –, this play with identities and with facets of the city of Mainz reflects the artistic director’s invitation for audiences to partake in the imaginative pretend games presented on stage.
