Calligraphy, like a mirror, is a silent reflection of the soul. It has always been a precious legacy of our ancestors. However, the time that people using brushes to write, regarding calligraphy as part of their lifestyle has gone inevitably. Therefore, the procedure of grinding ink is regarded laborious and time-consuming. But as Dongpo Su, one of the four litterateurs in the Song Dynasty suggested, it is not the people grinding ink, but the ink stick grinding one’s personality.
I regard this procedure as self-cultivation, therefore introduce it into children’s stationeries. Preserving the old gesture, but achieving goals of today.
