The energy turnaround of the upcoming decades will demand huge changes of the electrical grid. How to store and transmit energy will be one of the key issues. Therefore transmission lines must be constantly examined and maintained, while operating at the same time.
This is where the concept of e.flux comes in. The robot is capable of moving along transmission lines autonomously. Whenever the device detects a damaged spot, it communicates the precise position to a repair team. Today, this job is done manually.
The system would increase the quality infrastructure´s surveillance drastically and at the same time reduce the risk for workers.
