The main methods of seeking the “truth” in Neo-Confucianism, a prevalent Korean traditional philosophy, are "introspection" and "contemplation”. We designed the Calendar of Contemplation on the basis of philosophical quest for finding the “truth.” In the calendar, each piece represents a day. Moving a piece a day, one gains an opportunity to contemplate about the meaning of his day-to-day life—a significance that was missing in their busy life. The changeable month indicators are placed under the acrylic plate. Visually, the overall coordination between the indicators and the pieces represents the traditional Sumie paintings of Korea.
