BABEL2014 / Typeface

BABEL2014 is a new mutual signs-system for the Hebrew, Latin, Arabic and Cyrillic alphabets, consisting of 26 signs. Each sign represents the same sound in the four alphabets, and must be turned or mirrored according to each alphabet. I developed the system to show similarities between forms that look very different at first sight, even though they have a mutual source - the 3,000 years old phoenician alphabet. The new typeface refers to the linguistic and cultural closeness due to the globalization. It can be used e.g. for international words, to make written communication between cultures easier.
