SMiaL was inspired by the rising issue of academically intense education systems causing children to be deprived of physical activities and crucial play time. Due to the extended hours in school and heavy classroom-based curriculum, children are hence being bound and restricted to sitting on hard, inflexible work areas that limits movement and would eventually increase health risks.
SMiaL aims to serve as a flexible resting space and a new direction in learning, emphasising the importance of holistic learning approach through play and social interactions.More than just a public furniture, it embodies encouragement for children to find balance
