ONEder BOARD / Cutting Board

Discipline: Product

Discipline: Product

A cutting board suitable for cutting with one hand. The project aims to help people that can only use one hand in the process of basic food preparation, like cutting fruit and vegetables, spreading butter or transferring food from the board to a plate. The board offers a method of cutting in half fruit and vegetables of round or elongated shapes, making the rest of the cutting process much safer and easier, with no need for another hand to hold the object in place. My goal was to make a desirable inclusive object that can benefit all users and to use sustainable materials in a smart and esthetic way.

A good example of showing that design is not only about serving mainstream needs, but on the contrary serving special requirements for people with special needs is one of the most important aspects of good design.
Jury Statement
It was a great honor for me to receive the winner announcement. I hope this will push forward the production of the project and maybe, someday, help people.
