Grooming the streets of Limehouse. Limehouse was one of the Victorian London’s most important and successful districts, serving the great trading ships of the time. Nowadays it has become one of the most deprived areas in the UK, with almost 70% of its population surviving on a low income. The project was focused upon re-invigorating a rather sad and lonely place. My response was to redesign a barbershop on Commercial Road, offering a not for profit service aimed for the majority of Limehouse residents. Design a device to provide an exceptional Barber experience was also required as part of fulfilling the project brief.
