Ze-ran, unlike the traditional heavy flavor in pickled food, conveys a new cultural concept by applying phonetic puns on the Taiwanese words for "fun", which is pronounced like "vinegary taste". It depicts the four tastes that represent experiences in life: sourness, sweetness, bitterness, and spiciness. The overall design of the packaging uses an one-body concept and consists of collision proof, portable and display functions. Styled bottle cap is also designed to increase the value of the product. On top of letting customers to easily identify the product contents, the cap can also be used as a plate when turned upside down.
