De Correspondent is a Dutch-language online journalism platform focusing on background, analysis and investigative reporting. It launched in September 2013 after raising a total of 1.7 million dollars, a world record in journalism crowd funding, and currently has more than 33,000 paying members. Momkai was involved from the start, creating both the name and identity. A strong red color embodies a new digital-only approach in journalism, while a subtle grey / white design was chosen for its readability. The logo is based on the handwriting of the lead designer and was created using Chinese ink, reminiscent of the painted logos of yesteryear.
