In China , tiles have been used in buildings for thousands of years. It is widely adopted into various roofs not only since it is in accordance with Chinese philosophy spirit of modesty and harmony, but because of its material. Chinese tiles are made out of clay with Chinese methods. It can absorb water and let it evaporate spontaneously.
We designed this soap dish to reuse this material. Fewer and fewer buildings in China remember the traditional tiles because they are of modern (or western style). What we want to do is to remind people of our tradional materials and our culture. It’s simple but beautiful.
