Soleco / learning tool / portable virtual ecosystem

Soleco / learning tool

This device is a learning tool that is designed to teach the user about ecosystems and food chains in a fun and interactive way. The assignment was to design a learning tool for a 5th grade classroom in the subject of science. We researched market trends and specific needs of a classroom to come up with different concepts, participated in user testing with the students, and then used all this information to develop the final concept. The final concept uses sunlight and an interactive environment to engage the students to learn about ecosystems and food-chains based on the choices they make which have consequences in the virtual environment.
