Many people when adding water into cups often over-fill the cup resulting in unnecessary waste. For the blind public filling a cup properly is not an easy task. When an object such as water enters the whistle cup, the air in
the sealed cup is squeezed out generating gas flow through the
small whistle opening in the center of the lid. This sound continues
as water is added informing the pourer that the cupis filling until it
nearly full of water. The whistling reduces as the cup gets filled to
a sufficient quantity to ensure it is full but will not overflow.
