Advertising raises expectations that can often not be fulfilled by the products. We know this. It plays with our desires and creates new needs. We know this, too. Most children do not know this. They are still susceptible to advertising messages in a particularly uncritical way. The latest must-haves and hippest trends reign over the schoolyard. Whoever wears uncool clothes is subject to harassment. I wrote and illustrated a book which is supposed to give children an understanding of the subject Advertising in an exciting and age-appropriate way. It deals with super heroes, false advertising promises and the confidence into one's strength.
