The aim of this project was to find a self-supporting three dimensional construction by using a soft and flat foil. Some researches have been done to find a principle that this material becomes stiff just by a special construction. The foil is sewn up at the touching points with the aid of a sewing machine.
In comparison to textile material the foil in combination with the special construction produces an enormous stiffness.
This principle was transfered to a series of lamp shades.
The lamp shades are based on a directed pattern which generates the three-dimensional bodies. The shades are loosely suspended on the metal frame like a lampion.
