Platform Gap Minder
When boarding the subway trains, there is always a gap between the train and the platform, and it always runs a danger that someone may misstep and have his or her foot caught in that gap, resulting in sprained or fractured ankle. The Platform Gap Minder is an expandable platform extension. As the train moors to a stop, it extends to fill the gap completely to allow safe boarding; and it returns to the original retracted state before the train leaves the platform. Sensors detect how far the train’s body is to determine how far out to expand, so the Platform Gap Minder can automatically accommodate different train models.
