For patients who suffer from hyperlipidemia and diabetes, proper amount of salinity and sugar intake is essential. Whereas the difference between taste and actual content of salinity and sugar contained in food is variable, patients may intake more salinity and sugar then they are needed.

When measuring salinity and sugar content in food, there is a disadvantage of measuring every food before having meal with ordinaty portable salimeters and saccharometers.
S-meter spoon helps patients to have natural mealtime by checking the amount of salinity and sugar contained in food while patients are actually eating food.
