Floating river lanterns is a traditional custom of China and some other countries in Southeast Asia. The river lanterns in the markets nowadays are most made of plastic and paper material. If a large number of river lanterns are not refloated in time, they would pollute the river in a certain degree. In this design, river lantern is made from fish food with sugar-coat covering the surface. The thickness of sugar-coat controls the dissolution rate of the river lantern after it is put into the water. Finally fish food will turn into water and be eaten by fish, which not only satisfies people's pursuit in spirit, but also decreases pollution.
