The North American trucking industry is in decline; few people are willing to take on the difficult lifestyle of long-haul trucking. Drivers experience loneliness, spending long periods of time away from home. Living life on the road, they lack access to basic human needs such as a personal bathroom, home cooked food, water, and communication. Research showed that trucker’s emotional needs are not being met; the key emotion being pride. The Volvo Vision Long-Haul (VLH) Truck aims to make the long-haul trucker lifestyle more desirable through functional and emotionally appealing design. It makes future truckers feel proud of their lifestyle.
