The artist’s book CONVOLUTUM is a merger of nine different cycles created by the artist Holger Schmidhuber from 2006 to 2012. This elaborate publication features a fine cloth binding and embossing, and stands out due to a dynamic leaflet system that allows the reader to experience each series individually. The accompanying texts and sketches are found on the natural matt side, while the works of art are on the high-gloss side: it’s traditional book art coupled with an innovative design concept. Additional typographic excitement is created by the contrasting use of traditional and contemporary fonts.

Even in its book binding quality with a linen binding and embossing, the exhibition catalog for artist Holger Schmidhuber perfects the claim of the artist in his works. The print, the innovative use of the typographical elements and, last but not least, the leaflets interactively bring the pieces closer to the reader, almost like a small private exhibition. An outstanding entry that leads the way in fine arts.
