There is probably no other discipline that experienced so many changes and trends and that enters so often the centre of political debates than architecture. Buzzwords like housing shortage, micro housing, affordable housing or sustainablity call for new ideas and pose some challenges upon modern architects nowadays - however, it also opens up new possibilities and perspectives. Architects, interior designers and the people ask themselves alike: How do we want to live? How can we feel more like home - and how to realize this experience for everybody?
All these trends and tendencies are at the heart of the upcoming World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam (WAF) - iF is a partner of the festival.
In the scope of WAF, we talked to international architect and iF juror Stefan Behnisch about his ideas of good architectural design, the challenges and trends from his perspective. Watch below part 1 of the podcast-miniseries. Parts 2 and 3 will follow the next two months.
