The countdown to the iF Jury is very on: We are excited as the first deliveries of entries arrived in a slightly hidden 6.000 sqm exhibition hall “Schuppen 52” in the middle of Hamburg’s famous harbor and – as many say – gate to the world. Where once the smell of spices from all over the world filled the room, 6.400 designs from all over the world are currently getting prepared on 900 meters in total table length.
In less than two weeks, from 22 to 24 January, 67 pairs of critical eyes and hands will scrutinize every design entry for the iF DESIGN AWARD 2019!
But how do we prepare such an extensive jury session further? The iF logistics partner speaks of 780 cubic metres packaging volume they had to handle to get everything to the jury hall in time.
So, the first step is the so-called self-assembly that lasts about two days – these are all entries, round about 350, that only the designers or manufacturers with their expert knowledge can assemble rightfully.
At the same time, the about 4.000 other entries are prepared for the presentation at the jury session carefully by us and our logistics partner.
There are also about 2.000 digital submissions like URLs, PDFs or videos, which now have to be tested on their functionality and implemented on the computers. If something does not work, we contact the participants and try to find solutions until the jury session.
In the last days before the jury session, the exhibition hall is going to be cleaned and decorated – every entry has to be presented in the best possible way!
Before the actual jury session starts, the international iF team engages with the entries in Hamburg and analyses them in detail. In that way, we can ensure to present the contributions with all relevant information to our jurors.
Last but not least step: We are very looking forward to the iF jury session 2019!
