The “stool variants_01-04” are examples for a material-orientated design process, which is based on systematical research about inherent material properties. On the one hand, the elasticity of thin films is used to generate manually so called surface-knots with optimal geometry. Otherwise these forms are reproduced to 100 % by a Polymer Modified Glass-Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (PMGRG). It has advantageous qualities to materialize fragile forms. That nontoxic PMGRG has a perfect mechanical strength and it is easy to handle. The development of an alterable production mould with elastic films allows a fast manufacture of various surface-knots.
