Washi is a two-volume book set that explains and illustrates the traditional Japanese craft of papermaking.
The first volume provides an insight into Japanese paper and highlights a variety of related themes such as the history of paper and modern areas of application. The text is richly illustrated with diagrams and photographs.
The second volume is a collection of typical paper samples from nine well-known Japanese prefectures.
Both volumes have been finished with traditional Japanese-style thread binding. The pages on which the text is printed are made of Gampi paper from the Büttenpapierfabrik Gmund and are the ideal complement for the overall image of the books.
