According to research on developmental psychology, young children aged approximately 3 years like to try putting on their shoes and clothes on their own. The design of buttons can easily affix clothes; however, young children at this age cannot perform the actions of buttoning because the children’s muscles are not maturely developed. Thus, intricate actions, such as buttoning, are exceedingly difficult for these children.
