While athlete powermeters are highly expensive, there is no other alternative for
real power metering. To create a low cost powermeter, the entire device had to be
redesigned.
To achive this, a freewheel based torque tube was developed – this design allows
the power meter to be mounted on any threaded hub that is intended for multiple
speed casettes, the only downside is that this freewheel extender tube allows usage
of only single speed freewheels. Manufacture process of such powermeter is radically
cheaper than the commercially available powermeters. THis design could bring powermeters to the masses.
