Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900 to 1990) was one of the pioneers in industrial design, in Germany and the world. Born in Bremen, he studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar.
The quotations on Wagenfeld’s iF award-winning products are taken from gestaltete industrieform in deutschland (Econ Verlag GmbH, Düsseldorf, 1955). The book presents a selection of well-designed products from the 1954 Deutsche Industrie Messe in Hannover: in effect, the first-ever iF product design award.
