One kaiser-era marine hall in the middle of Hamburg's harbor, (Schuppen 52), 58 international jurors and 5,575 entries from 59 countries in total: After an exhausting yet exhilarating three-day examination and judging period, our jury has chosen the winning entries.
"I really felt embraced by the jury through the whole process. I had been part of another jury before, and this one felt like home right from the beginning. I found the whole process super organized. I loved the veto session because I really felt that I learned different ways of judging design from other designers. To companies I would say: you want to be represented among design's best. When you learn you really are being recognized by designers, I think you realize it really is an important recognition."

“The competition is clearly attracting some of the best companies and designers around the world. The way the jurors judged the products is very fair and is very thorough. We really do read every single submission card. The arduous task of the judges is to identify the best things so that we can celebrate and revere them, and also give consumers and retailers a sense of confidence. When a product receives an iF award, it really stands for something: it stands for a clear intention and a quality of execution, a quality of materials, a quality of thinking.”

More countries than last year
This year's jury included entries from 59 countries around the globe, with even more entries than last year. Alongside the European core markets, the iF DESIGN AWARD also received entries from all six inhabited continents, including first-time submissions from countries in Africa such as Mauritania and Nigeria.
New categories well established
Two of our newer categories, Professional Concept and Service Design/UX, experienced a high rate of year-on-year growth (19% and 18% respectively). In iF's home country of Germany, entries to the Professional Concept category grew by 23%.
Other category/country combinations, such as China/Hong Kong and Packaging, enjoyed exceptional growth rates (in this case almost double the number of entries in one year!). Korea also saw an 80% increase in Service Design submissions.
Results announced on 10 March
The winners are preparing for the elegant awards ceremony on 10 March in the BMW Welt in Munich. The very best of all winning designs – our 75 gold winners – will be honored in grand style onstage.
